Treatment for rheumatoid arthritis in 2017

A review article summarizes the current approaches to the treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) according to Treat-toTarget strategy, including glucocorticoids, disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, particularly metothrexate, and biologic agents with different mechanisms of action. The objectives of treatment are to achieve and sustain complete remission in patients with early RA and/or low disease activity in patients with advanced RA, to improve functional activity and healthrelated quality of life and to reduce the risk of early mortality.
