Inherited autoinflammatory diseases are a group of familial periodic fevers that include familial Mediterranean fever, criopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS), mevalonate kinase deficiency/hyperimmunoglobulin D syndrome (MKD/ HIDS), tumor necrosis factor-associated periodic syndrome (TRAPS) . Autoinflammatory syndromes are defined as conditions caused by an exaggerated innate immune system response rather than by disorder of humoral or cellular immunity. Interleukin-1b is a common mediator in these diseases. In the recent doubleblind, randomized, placebo controlled trial (CLUS), the efficacy and safety of canakinumab were shown in patients with colchicine-resistant familial Mediterranean fever, MKD/ HIDS), and TRAPS.
