The author reviews the prevalence and medical and social signficance of gastroduodenal erosions and ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), controversial terminology, etiology and pathogenesis, clinical signs and symptoms and diagnosis of NSAID-gastritis. The promising approaches to treatment and prevention of NSAID-gastritis are detailed.
