Critical analysis of the Helicobacter pylori-infection leading role in the development of gastroduodenal diseases

The author reviews the available evidence and criticizes the concept of the leading role of Helicobacter pylori in the development of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and stomach cancer. Maastricht Consensus recommendations for the management of Helicobacter infection are being used in clinical practice over more than 20 years. However, these recommendations contain several error messages and had negative effects.
