A review summarizes the available information about drugs which that can induce hyperglycemia and diabetes, including glucocorticosteroids, second-generation antipsychotics, beta-blockers, statins and diuretics. The aforementioned medications are widely used in clinical practice, and are associated with an increased risk of these adverse drug reactions. The authors discuss the most likely mechanisms for the development of drug-induced hyperglycemia and diabetes mellitus.
