Summary

Aim

To analyze the financial costs of medications in a multidisciplinary hospital using ABC/VEN analysis.

Material and methods

We conducted an ABC/VEN analysis of the financial costs for medications in the Clinic of Bashkir State Medical University over 2020-2022.

Results

The analysis of the distribution and cost structure revealed the predominance of vital (V) drugs in the group of the highest costs (A) during the study period. Distribution by the VEN categories was the most rational in 2020 and 2022. There were qualitative changes in the procurement structure during this period with a significant change in the quantitative ratio for some medication items.

Conclusion

The use of ABC/VEN analysis as a tool for evaluating the effectiveness of financial costs made it possible to determine the rationality of spending on medications for the period from 2020 to 2022.
